Communication Skills
Communication skills are like the essential equipment you'd take with you on a journey. If you were going on a great quest, you'd want to bring with you all the supplies and knowledge you could get ahead of time. A mentor, someone who has gone that way before, would be priceless, too.
Instead of supplies for the road, though, your quest requires abilities. The road you're on is taking you to the life you want to live, and communication skills are essential. Why? Because you're only going to get what you want in life by getting others to help you. Communicating well gives you leverage.
Think of these pages as your roadmap. Some of it might seem elementary or strange or unimportant. Together, though, all that you learn in these pages comes together to give you knowledge about how to get others to see clearly―and persuasively―what you've got in your mind. These are the electronic scrolls to your future.
If you're going to gather valuable allies for your quest and get around those who would oppose you, you need to communicate. It's the only way to succeed.
What you're going to find in these pages includes:
•How communication works
•Barriers to effective business communication
•The magic of active listening
•How to get Buy-In through induction tactics
•Getting BuyIn through more serious tactics
•How expectation can lead to powerful self-motivation (your own cheering section) . . . and how it works in reverse
•Powerful language tools to use for persuasive communication
•How to align yourself to the other person . . . and then lead him in your direction
•Blowing it: How to make business management mistakes pay off
•Resolving conflict when your leadership is questioned
•How to deal with the tough behaviors you face when communicating with a difficult boss, worker, or co-worker
•Projecting power through nonverbal communication
•. . . and much, much more (keep checking back!).
